What can you expect at a Jackson's Ridge camp?

An Experienced Staff to run the programme for you.

When you book a camp at JR, all you have to do is provide one counsellor for each group of 8-12 boys and girls. Once you arrive at JR, your campers will be escorted onto the activity field to begin the fun while you attend an orientation with the camp director. JR uses trained and experienced personnel to lead every aspect of the daily programme. We invest heavily into the ongoing development of our camp facilitators. We do the programming, lead the activities, cook and serve the food, clean up the dishes and lead the council fire services and discipleship times. Once you arrive at camp, all you have to do is serve as counsellor for a group of boys or girls. We do all the rest!

A weekend of Fun and Learning.

The JR camp is first and foremost a fun-filled programme of adventure and challenge. What kid can resist boating on Lake Buddy, swimming in one of our pools, tossing the earth-ball, or jumping off the gangplank onto the “blob?” JR also focuses on experiential learning activities. This means that your campers will learn valuable life lessons as they proceed through the daily schedule. Your campers will be divided into same sex groups of 8-12 children and will be accompanied by their counsellor to each activity period. Group games as well as challenge course initiatives on our high and low ropes course will lead each group through a time of exploration, experimentation and eventual self-discovery. We have seen attitudes and opinions change, behaviour improve and cooperation increase by the camp end. Church groups can expect a dynamic time of spiritual awakening and renewal around our evening council fires. A JR Camp is a life changing experience!

Great Food and a Well-Appointed Facility.

JR employs the services of an excellent caterer to provide good tasting, well-balanced meals. We make sure we do not skimp in the kitchen. We want every child to eat nourishing meals each day and be able to come back for seconds. The Jackson's Ridge campground is located in the bush, about 15 K's off the tarmac. You will find JR clean, well maintained, peaceful and relaxing. Our bunkhouse and bathhouse are basic but comfortable. The Owen Carr Center provides a beautiful location for meals and indoor activities and meetings. Jackson's Ridge has two swimming pools and a water recreation area for swimming and boating. Pony rides are available as well as nature walks through the surrounding bush. Absailing can be arranged by special request.

As inflation takes its toll in South Africa, prices continually increase causing us to adjust our camping fees accordingly. We have made every possible effort to provide a full weekend camp experience at the lowest price possible. Remember, you are not just hiring a facility…you are hiring an experienced team to facilitate the entire camp programme for you.
